Services held Wednesday for Mrs. Marlyn Rollefson

Following a brief illness with cancer, Mrs. Marlyn Rollefson of Forest City, 43, died Jan. 27 at a hospital in Rochester, Minn. Mrs. Rollefson had taught kindergarten in Forest City for five years until she retired to raise her family. She later returned to teaching at the Happy Time Pre-School and had been a teacher's associate working with kindergarteners at the Forest City central building for four years.

Born April 21, 1936, near Hayfield, Margaret M. Rollefson was the daughter of Henry and Helena Schlawin Boland. She was baptized and confirmed at the Peace Reformed church in Garner. As a small child she moved with her parents to Klemme where she graduated from high school in 1953. Mrs. Rollefson received her teaching certificate from Waldorf College in 1955. She married Marlyn Rollefson on Aug. 3, 1958, at the Peace Reformed church in Garner. The couple lived on a farm east of Forest City in Mount Valley township.

Mrs. Rollefson had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, the ILCW and participated actively in the area of parish education. She was the superintendent for the vacation Bible school, a catechist for students preparing for confirmation, a Sunday School teacher for many years and currently was serving a term on the parish board of education.

Survivors include her husband, Marlyn; Three sons, Jon, a student at Iowa State University in Ames, Joel and Jay, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Helena Boland of Forest City; and two sisters, Mrs. Douglas (Phyllis) Lundberg of Humboldt and Mrs. Robert (Lois) Roher of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her father and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Forest City with the Rev. Steven Dornbusch and Rev. Ole winter officiating. Don Meyer was soloist and Norma Boomgarden, organist. Casket bearers were Keith Hagenson, Sam Hovey, Archie Lovik, Lowell Solberg, Arlyn Rauk and Brian Rauk. Burial was in Oakland cemetery with the Petersen funeral home in charge of arrangements.
