Daniel David Lieberknecht the son of David and Diane (Draper) Lieberknecht was born December 15, 1972, in Belmond, Iowa. Danny's arrival into the lives of his family and the greater world brought with it many priceless life lessons and gifts as his journey brought true meaning to perseverance, family, community, and friendship bonds that lasted through his entire 46 years of life.

During his childhood and adolescent years Danny attended Belmond Community Schools and had been active in the Cub and Boy Scout programs. He was a life long and active member of the Belmond United Methodist Church and in earlier years had enjoyed a Boundary Waters canoeing adventure with Pastor Jim Carpenter, Don Cleveland, and others. He was active in MYF and had attended summer camps at the Methodist Church camp in Clear Lake, IA. Danny also participated as a multi sport athlete in both Belmond and Belmond-Klemme Schools as a four starter in football, played basketball, and ran track, as well as playing on the golf team a few years. Danny graduated from Belmond-Klemme High School in the Class of 1991. He furthered his education at NIACC receiving his Associate in Business Degree in 1993.

Danny was very much a people person and his gentle demeanor and friendly personality helped form many life long friendships, especially with his group of friends known at "The Rebels". This adventuresome and fun loving group of friends created many memories that are often recounted fondly amongst Danny's friends and family even today. Be it an evening of cruising in Danny's supped up Monte Carlo, a few hours spent around the pool table at Grandpa and Grandma Drapers, a gathering of friends, on the athletic field, basketball court, track, or many other happenings, Danny a.k.a. "Liebo" and his friends enjoyed a special camaraderie.

Danny and family and friends looked forward to getaways that were often times filled with colorful memories to Adventureland, Worlds of Fun, and other destinations. He and his family looked forward to a favorite past time of trekking to Colorado for vacations on the ski slopes. He had a fondness for speed and had been known to push the envelope on occasion in his cars and his Ninja motorcycle.

Danny's work ethic was instilled at a young age as he commenced working at Liebknecht's O.K. Tire Company in Belmond for his grandpa Wilbur and father David. His friendly and warm personality was a perfect fit for the dealership and his love for people was an asset. Danny was a very dedicated employee and was very meticulous in his duties. His reliability and skill made Danny an ideal fit for his job at Lieberknecht Tire and the eventual plan to assume the ownership of the business.

An unexpected tire accident changed Danny's life when he was 21 and re-wrote the next 25 years of the "Life and Times" of the life of Danny, his family, friends and the communities he blessed for the remainder of his years. From the human struggle of hanging to the fragile threads of life, to the restraints of brain injury and effects requiring permanent caregiving and support in all facets of his life functionality, to every tribulation and trial ahead Danny's life was a precious gift to the world.

The boundless and undying love of his parents, sister and family along with friends, other family and dozens of caregivers was truly an amazing testimony. Following the accident Danny spent many weeks in the hospital, at the "On With Life" facility in Ankeny and for the past 23 1/2 years at Harmony House in Waterloo with his extended family. Though his life very much changed and was reliant upon support and care giving of those around him, his place in the world never did as he was always included in the happenings of his family and his communities. He was present at most family gatherings, sporting events, and numerous events over his life time. Danny's years following the event that changed his life forever brought a bounty of life lessons to all who were blessed with this presence in their lives.

Danny's memory and life legacy will burn brightly in the hearts and minds of his loving parents David and Diane Lieberknecht, Belmond, IA; sister Debbie (Mark) Jenison and their children: Michael, Danielle, and Nicholas Jenison, Belmond, IA; uncle Gary Draper, Randall, IA, aunts Janice Draper, Belmond, IA, and Marilyn Hanson, Klemme, IA; and uncle Ron Graham, Garner, IA; also uncles and aunts: Janean (Larry) Bubeck, Belmond, IA, Jolene (Duane) Mennenga, Meservey, IA, and Joan Shillinglaw, Belmond, IA, along with many cousins, and other extended family and countless friends.
