March 17, 1920 ---– February 19, 2019

Eleanor L. Ness, 98, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at the Lake Mills Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills [Iowa] with Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Burial will take place in the Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation for Eleanor will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Eleanor Louise (Adson) Ness was born in Webster County, March 17, 1920, to parents Albert O. and Anna L. (Larson) Adson. She attended and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1938, and later graduated from Hamilton School of Commerce, Mason City. On May 2, 1945, Eleanor was united in marriage with Conrad A. Ness while he was in the service. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Following Conrad’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard, the couple made their home in Fort Dodge.

In 1957, they moved to Lake Mills, where they purchased a farm and Eleanor worked in the office of Winnebago Mutual Insurance Association for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Eleanor and Connie enjoyed many fishing trips together to Minnesota and Canada, golfing, ballroom dancing, as well as trips to many different countries. Eleanor was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Hannah/Sarah circle for many years, was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and loved the friendships she had at the Lake Mills Senior Citizens Center.

Eleanor is survived by many nieces and nephews; Donovan Adson, Marvin Adson, Ronald Adson, Marlene Byness, William Adson, Charles Blank, Robert Blank, Donna Wendell, Dennis Thompson and Gene Thompson; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Conrad, Feb. 12, 1997; a sister, Alice Blank; three brothers: Edwin, Leonard and Donald Adson; and one niece, Denise (Blank) Koci.
