Vila Maribeth (Christopher) Armstrong was born on Tuesday July 2, 1940, to Lyle and Helen (Peterson) Christopher at Dows, Iowa. Following her education, Vila worked for several years at the Good Samaritan Society, Algona, Iowa. When she was younger, her father taught her how to shoot and she came to enjoy shooting trap and hunting birds. More recently she enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, Sudoku and spending time with her grandchildren.

Vila M. Armstrong, 74, of Algona, died Tuesday June 16, 2015, at her home. She is survived by her children, Terry Moore of Akron, IA, Jim (Gail Smith) Moore of Corwith, IA, Calvin (Sarah) Armstrong Jr. of Moorhead, MN, JoAnne Armstrong of Algona, IA; four grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Judith Ann Eisenbacher, Betty Lou Copp, Orville Christopher, Gary Christopher, Mary Schulz and Sherry Lee Fletcher; as well as many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Delbert Moore; husband Calvin Armstrong Sr.; two sons, Steve Moore and Kevin Armstrong; brothers, Lyle "Sonny" Christopher, Larry Christopher and sister, Phyllis Burlingame.
