March 13, 1956 --- February 7, 2019

SHEFFIELD, Iowa --- James Allen McLennan (Taco) was born on March 13, 1956, in Charles City and brought home to Jim and Betty McLennan of Greene, Iowa. He attended school in Greene until his family moved to Independence, Kansas where he graduated from Independence High School. He went on to acquire a bachelor of science in physical education from Fort Hays State College. After many jobs including house painting, fueling chemical spraying planes, and farrowing hogs, he owned "Jim's Pro" in Greene.

He married Dawn Freeseman and to this union, three children were born. Jamie Lee, Jered Reed, and Jordan William. Jim became employed at the Eaton Corporation in Belmond, Iowa where he remained for a total of 35 years. He especially enjoyed his job as a metallurgical lab technician at the plant.

Jim married Lucy Turner Rummens on July 10, 2005. They lived in Belmond until 2017 when they moved to Sheffield for Jim's retirement. Jim enjoyed his retirement by spending time with friends and family, especially his bar families at the Corner Bar and Sparetime Lanes in Belmond and Deb's Wild Horse Saloon and The West Fork Wharf. He had countless friends wherever he was and he enjoyed spending as much time as he could with all of them.

Jim had a love for playing softball and officiating school softball. He had a long career of bowling and competed at state and national bowling for years. He loved to fish, most of all ice fishing, and especially with friends. Jim loved to listen to conservative talk radio, as well as classic rock and roll. The Three Stooges, Perry Mason, and NCIS were his TV preferences.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lucy, his children Jamie (Nevada, Iowa), Jered (Chicago, Illinois), and Jordan (Kansas City, Missouri) Sarah Rummens (Sheffield, Iowa), Jess Rummens (Petaluma, California) Four grandchildren Lillian Eberly, Calvin Rummens, Kyleigh and Henry Voss. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Betty McLennan.

Funeral service will be held 6:00 pm, Tuesday, February 12, at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield with Rev. G, Kim Wills presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield.
