Herman L. Bruswitz, son of Herman and Flora Teel Bruswitz, was born February 9, 1897 at Steven's Point, Wis. The family moved to Eagle Grove when he was 12. He was a graduate of Eagle Grove High School in 1916 and of Morningside College. He served in World War I, the National Guard, and in World War II with the Army of Occupation in Germany. He married Anna Thorpe in 1922. He was a football coach in Iowa (including Sheldon) till his health forced him into other lines of work.

He lived a number of years in Terra Haute, Ind. but most of his later years in Pawling, N.Y. After the death of his wife in 1973 he married Jann Lynn and moved to Urbana, Ill. He died in the Danville Veterans Hospital of a heart condition at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Survivors include his wife Jann, two nieces, Irene Pixler of Eagle Grove, Jessie Bruswitz of Des Moines, two great nieces, four great great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held today, Thursday, Nov. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kastler -Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Glazier officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
