Mrs. Julia McDirmid, 83, died Wednesday afternoon at the Boone County Hospital, Boone, where she had been a patient for a week. Mrs. McDirmid, a former resident of Dakota City had been living at the Lutheran Home, Madrid. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lindhart Funeral Home with the Rev Francis Burr of the Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Surviving are two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Jean James, Eagle Grove. Mrs. McDirmid, the former Julia Hawkins, was born and educated at Dakota City. In 1903 she married Leigh McDirmid at Dakota City. They lived at Sherburn, Minn., and numerous other places in Minnesota and Iowa because of Mr. McDirmid's railroad job. Mr. McDirmid died in 1945. For the past several years, Mrs. McDirmid had lived at the Madrid Lutheran Home.
