Gerald Vincent Sheehy, age 75, of Perry formerly of Marshalltown and Fort Dodge, IA died on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home in Perry. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2013 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, IA. In lieu of flowers memorials will be given to St. Patrick’s Church or Iowa Hospice and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Gerald Vincent Sheehy was born on June 14, 1937 at Perry, IA to Bernard John and Helen M. (Lynch) Sheehy. He graduated from Jamaica High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Arlene Hoppe on November 23, 1963 at Fort Dodge, IA. Vince worked for the Lynch Farm, then for Farm Service until driving for various trucking companies including Umthun Trucking [Eagle Grove, Iowa] and Ruan Trucking.

Vince was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, IA and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry, IA. He loved motorcycling, listening to blue grass music, dancing and attending tractor pulls. At home he loved watching old western movies. He loved people, had a great sense of humor and telling stories. He especially loved his granddaughters and spending time with his closest companion for the last 12 years, Ann McBride of Fort Dodge, IA.

Vince was preceded in death by wife, Arlene, parents, Bernard and Helen Sheehy, brothers, John and Jerald Sheehy and a sister, Bernadette Delp. Survivors include his daughter, Erin Sheehy, Urbandale, IA, sons, Eric Sheehy and wife Gina, Kenosha, WI, and Kirk Sheehy and wife Julia, Madrid, IA, sisters, Mary Furrow and husband Dennis, Woodward, IA, Margaret Sheehy-Wilson and her husband Jon of Perry, IA, Martha Sheehy-Williamson and husband Ben, of Perry, IA, brothers, Leo Sheehy and wife Dianna, Audubon, IA, Lowell Sheehy, Dawson, IA, Paul Sheehy and wife Connie of Dawson, IA, Gene Sheehy, Grand Junction, IA, Bob Sheehy and wife Tracey, Perry, IA, 3 granddaughters, Stephanie, Kimberly and Megan Sheehy along with 3 exchange students, Alexandra, Elise (children Emma and Lou), and Vivian (children Jelle and Sybe) and many nieces and nephews.
