September 13, 1926 ----- January 6, 2019

Annis Rae (McCart) Dyas was born on September 13, 1926, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of James and Amanda (Marley) McCart. She grew up on her family’s farm in Troy Township and was educated in Eagle Grove, graduating in the Class of 1944. She then attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics. On July 23, 1950, Annis was united in marriage with Richard Dyas at the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and they lovingly enjoyed 68 years together. They lived in Ames, Jewell and moved to Eagle Grove in 1958.

After college, Ann taught school in Adel for a few years. When her children were grown, she renewed her teaching credentials and was a substitute teacher in Eagle Grove at the middle school and also taught a home economics course at the high school. Ann was a very active member of the United Methodist Church, a long-time member of P.E.O., and belonged to several bridge clubs. She loved to bake – her pies were fantastic - and she was a talented seamstress.

Ann passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Windsor Manor in Webster City, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris McCart West and brother, George McCart. She is survived by her husband, Richard Dyas of Eagle Grove; daughter, Sue Johenning (Jeb) of Beverly Hills, CA; son, Jim Dyas of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Jimmy Johenning (Meghan) of Los Angeles, CA, and Sara Johenning of New York, NY; sister-in-law, Betty McCart of Fort Dodge, and nieces and nephews Dan McCart (Etta) of Eagle Grove, Diane McCart Girard (Al) of Ankeny, Kent McCart (Ida) of Eagle Grove, Mike McCart (Kim) of Eagle Grove, Gary McCart (Wendy) of Eagle Grove, and Doris McCart Marner (Dan) of Crowley, TX.

Memorial services will be held on January 19, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the south building of Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, with Pastor Jim Roth, Eagle Grove United Methodist Church, officiating. A reception will follow in the adjacent dining room. Foust Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church.
