Frank Kemp, 77, dies at Goodell

Goodell - Funeral services for Frank C. Kemp, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The Rev. Donald Thompson and the Rev. Park E. Miller officiated. Organ music was provided by Lester VerHelst and the church quartet, J. J. Cook, V. E. Harris, Mrs. Park Miller and Mrs. Arthur Savogue, sang two songs, accompanied by Arthur Savogue. Graveside services were held in Amsterdam Cemetery with the Rev. Thompson presiding and the deceased's grandson, the Rev. Ed Molzar [Malzer] of Missouri City, Mo., giving the closing prayer. Pallbearers were Merlynd Norris of Eagle Grove, Dorance Lauden of Thornton, Harold Savogue, Dale Shelton, Duane Davis and Amos Hanson.

Frank Kemp, son of William and Minnie Kemp, was born March 12, 1889, at Fort Dodge. He was the last of a family of seven children. When a young man, he came to Goodell to work for his brother-in-law, Bill Schlichting. He was married in 1913, to Louise Heginger of Goodell. They made their home in Belmond, where Mr. Kemp followed his trade as carpenter. Mrs. Kemp died in 1946, and he later married his brother's widow, Mrs. Paul (Clara) Kemp of Goodell, and they made their home in Goodell. He died Sunday at his home following a months illness.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, Elmer of Hampton, and Arthur of Colome, South Dakota; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Esther) Malzar [Malzer] of Nebraska City, Nebr., and Mrs. Victor (Ruth) Meyers of Alexander; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
