MAMIE M. CUNNINGHAM
Mamie Minnie Whyte was born on March 20, 1894, in Goldfield, Iowa, to George Wilson and Agnes Weir Stevenson Whyte. She graduated from Goldfield High School in 1912 and was a lifelong resident of Goldfield. She was united in marriage with Ray Lewis Cunningham on May 31, 1917, in Goldfield. Mr. Cunningham was a pharmacist and they owned and operated Cunningham Drug in Goldfield. Her husband died on February 6, 1961. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, a former Sunday School teacher and Emma Henry Circle member. In 1922, she was one of the first Girl Scout Leaders. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.Mamie Minnie Cunningham died Monday, March 1, 1999, at her home in Goldfield at the age of 104. Survivors include her granddaughter, Terry Glidden, Goldfield; one grandson, Jerry Glidden and wife, Mary, Aurora, Colo.; three great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Whyte, Goldfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; one daughter, Eileen Dixon; three brothers, George H. Whyte, John S. Whyte, and Lawrence P. Whyte; and six sisters, Jenny J. Ottilie, Carrie A. Anderson, Myrtle B. McGowan, Inez Whyte, Ethel E. Henry, and Lura A. Sevareid.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 4, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with Reverend Ellen G. Brantley officiating. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
