Harrold L. Bygness was born on September 26, 1921, at Goldfield, Iowa, to Eddie and Hazel McCallum Bygness. He served his country during World War II in the Army. Following his time in the service, he was united in marriage to Roberta Procter on January 5, 1945, at Alpha, Iowa. He worked for Wright County for many years with the Sheriffs department and County maintenance. He was a member of the Masons in Eagle Grove, and the American Legion Post #370 in Goldfield.

Harrold L. Bygness died Sunday, February 28, 1999, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 77. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Mosher, and husband, Ronald, Des Moines, Iowa, Palma Bygness, North Davenport, Fla., Janice Rowen and husband, Jon, Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Carolyn Bygness, Coralville, Iowa; two sons, Roger Bygness, and wife, Jeanne, Bowlus, Minn., and Robert Bygness, and wife, Coralie, Tempe, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta, on September 30, 1996; and one grandson, Jon Edward Rowen.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with Reverend Ellen G. Brantley officiating. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Military graveside rites were given by Goldfield American Legion Post #370. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
