Mrs. B. L. (Smitty) Smith, 90, nee Carol Wilson of Fredericksburg, Texas died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Knopp Nursing Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monte Marshall officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Renwick, Iowa , the daughter of William Curtis Wilson and Emma Lenz Wilson. She married B.L. Smith on Sept. 19, 1952, in Houston. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1993. She is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Michael Smith of Belton, Diane and Jim Kuykendall of Arlington and Trisha and Joe Meredith of Manor. Survivors also include 11 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and one sister, Karen Cordray of Fredericksburg. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by five siblings, including Mel Wilson, Rie Webster, Stanley Wilson, Marge Breitmoser and Gordon Wilson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Chad Hunter, Brady Meredith, Steve Eller, Brett Kuykendall, Jeoff Smith and Matt Medrano.
