Norma Zimmerman, 90, of Mason City, Iowa passed away, Friday October 19, 2018 at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield. Presiding will be Pastor Jeff Dahlin of Praise Community Church in Mason City. Visitation will be at the church in Sheffield, Monday 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.

Norma Jean Brouwer Sheriff Zimmerman was born at Klemme, Iowa January 30, 1928. She was a daughter of Arthur and Sylvia (Moberly) Brouwer. She attended schools at Thornton, Hayfield, and Sheffield. She was baptized in Klemme Methodist church and joined the Methodist church at Hayfield, Iowa. She later joined the First Methodist Church in Sheffield, then transferred her membership to First United Methodist Church in Mason City, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teacher College and taught a year in a country school west of Sheffield. She married Lynn Sheriff in 1946 and five children were born to this union. Eugene (Evelyn) of Sheffield, Keith (Linda) of West Des Moines, Diane Tuinstra of San Antonio Texas, Jay (Eva) of Sheffield, and Dale (Gail) of Sheffield. Norma has eleven grandchildren: Philip, Brian, Erin, Steven, Max, Renee, Amy, William, Jamie, Levi, and Hayley, along with many great grandchildren.

Norma was involved in farming her entire life, as a farmer's daughter, farmer's wife, and as an owner of her own farm. She started her own business in Mason City caring for the elderly. Norma essentially spent her life caring for others: first her family, then her mother, then the elderly who just needed some tender loving care.

After retirement Norma volunteered at Hospice North Iowa for many years. Norma married Karl Zimmerman in 2002. Norma enjoyed attending the annual Brouwer Picnic and seeing all of her brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Surviving Norma are her husband Karl Zimmerman, her children and grandchildren, brother Duane Brouwer of Iowa Falls, sister Darlene (Merlin) Peter of Ankeny, sister-in-law Joyce Brouwer of Sheffield, and many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Lynn Sheriff, brothers Ivan, Elwyn, and Gordon, sister Ardella Oldag, sisters-in-law Jean and Dorothy, brother-in-law Dean Oldag, son-in-law Mark Tuinstra and one grandson.
