Lynn Elliott Schmidt was born Dec. 8, 1942, at Hampton, the son of Richard and Ruby [Mikesh] Schmidt. He was baptized Jan. 3, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton, and received the rites of confirmation at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura, in 1956. He graduated from Joice High School in 1960 and attended Mason City Junior College. He was employed by the Clear Lake Watertower Co. for several years. At the time of his death he was working for D. C. Taylor Contractor of Vinton. Surviving are his parents of Joice; two sisters, Mavis, who is in the armed forces stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Janella at home; two brothers, Richard and Joe, both at home; a stepbrother, Larry of Phoenix, AZ., and a step sister, Kathryn at home. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
