Funeral Celebration of Life services for Donald Beckel, age 81, of Maryville, Missouri, previously from Clarinda, Iowa who passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Oak Point Assisted Living/Memory Care, Maryville, Missouri were held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda with Jeff Cummings officiating. Visitation was Wednesday from 10 to 11 prior to the service. Interment was held at Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Oak Pointe Assisted Living/Memory Care, Maryville, Missouri. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox, where we 'Celebrate Life'.

Donald Eugene Beckel, 81, formerly of Clarinda, Iowa entered into rest on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Oak Pointe Assisted Living/Memory Care in Maryville, Missouri where he had lived for the past year. Don was born on March 16, 1937 in Vincent, Iowa to Arthur and Helen (Yenck) Beckel. Don and his family also lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa for a short time before making their final residence in Clarinda, Iowa. On October 3, 1959, Don married his sweetheart, Reta Mae Ellenbarger. To their marriage they were blessed with three daughters, Janice in 1960, Lisa in 1962, and Karen in 1964. Don made a career for his family by working for the Page County Secondary Road Department for over 40 years. He retired in March 1999. He enjoyed working on cars in his spare time, but truly loved the times when he could go fishing. Don was a wonderful and loving father and husband who care deeply for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reta Mae Beckel, in June 2017; sister, Donna Jeanie Jones. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Janice (Dennis) Batten of Port St. John, Florida, Lisa (David) Shaw of Shenandoah, Iowa, Karen (Dale) Parman of Bedford, Iowa; brother, Darrell Beckel of Clarinda, Iowa and sister, Diane (Danny) Moulden of Basehor, Kansas; grandchildren, Nick and Nathan Batten of Orlando, Florida, Danielle (Joel) Lawrence of Bedford, Iowa and Matthew Shaw of Shenandoah; step grandchildren, Lezli Parman, Maryville, Missouri and Wesley (Andrea) Parman of Maryville, Missouri; great grandchildren, Mia Lawrence, Cayden and Caylor Dunbar and Drew and Dreya Parman; nieces; nephews and many friends. His memory will be cherished by his daughters and other family members.
