Edna (Heginger) Van Gerpen, 77, of Marion, Iowa formerly of Center Point and Klemme, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Mercy Hospice in Hiawatha, Iowa, after a short illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Center Point, with David Hanson officiating. A luncheon will follow. Interment will take place at a later date.
Edna Irene (Heginger) Van Gerpen was born Feb. 19, 1941 in Klemme, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Etta (Harms) Heginger, where she grew up and attended school. On June 20, 1959, Edna married John Daniel Van Gerpen at the Presbyterian Church in Dows, Iowa. Center Point became home for Edna and John, where they lived and raised their family. The couple moved to Marion where they have resided since 1995.
Edna is survived by her husband, John Van Gerpen; daughter, Rene' Van Gerpen of Marion, Iowa; daughter, Paula (Dan) Pollock of Titusville, Fla.; children of Paula are Joseph Pollock (fiancee Andrea Nosko) of Ankeny, Iowa and Amber (Cody) Short of Titusville, Fla.; children of Amber Short are Brandy Witt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Aubrey Linvell of Titusville, Fla., and Hunter Short of Titusville, Fla.; daughter, Penny (Kenneth) Hensley of Waterloo, Iowa; son of Penny, Mitchell Calvert of Waterloo, Iowa; son, Ryan Van Gerpen (fiancee Lorelei Bollinger) of Marion, Iowa; daughter of Ryan, Crystal (Dewey) Wheeler of Center Point, Iowa; children of Crystal, Wyatt and Wylan Wheeler of Center Point, Iowa; three brothers, Carl (Darlene) Heginger of Mason City, Iowa, and Tony Heginger and Rick (Georgina) Heginger of Klemme, Iowa; sister, Sharon Reysack of Clear Lake, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Susie Heginger and Shirley Heginger of Belmond, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sandra) Van Gerpen of Grand Forks, N.D. and Pete (Patricia) Van Gerpen of Iowa City, Iowa; sisters-in-law, June (Allyn) Christensen of Clarion, Iowa, Marion Van Gerpen of Boise, Idaho, and Gervaise Ellen Van Gerpen from California; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Etta (Harms) Heginger; four brothers, Duane, Bill, LuVerne and Lyle; two sisters, Lois Ward and Zelda Scott; and one grandson, Brandon Calvert.
