Roger M. Hildebrand, 73, a 39-year resident of Simi Valley died as the result of cancer on June 13, 2000 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born Dec. 31, 1926 in Belmond, Iowa. He lived in Marshalltown, Iowa then moved to Des Moines, Iowa before moving to Simi Valley in 1961. Roger retired from Rockwell International where he was a welder for 30 years. His favorite hobby was keeping up with his 1956 Chevy convertible and 1966 Ford three-quarter ton pick-up. He also loved to garden.

Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years Sydney; daughter Sandra Powers of Santa Barbara; son Gene Hildebrand of Leona Valley; daughter Julie Gershman of Woodland Hills; grandchildren Wendy Powers, Jess Dyckma, Brett Hildebrand, Kurt Kelsey and Kassidy Preisendanz; sisters Margie Meyer of Marshalltown, Iowa and Patty Hagen of St. Paul Minn.; brothers Bob St. John of Rochester, Minn. Virgil St. John of Le Grand, Iowa and Larry St. John of San Diego.

At the family's request there were no services held. Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
