Funeral Services Held Recently For Mrs. Corneliussen

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred C. Corneliussen were at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 9 at the Grace E.U.B. Church, Story City, with the Rev. Henry W. Riegel officiating. Mrs. Charles Jewell was vocalist accompanied by Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle at the organ. Pall bearers were Joseph Donhowe, Richard Munsen, Duane Orcutt, Robert Sweet, Peter B. Larson and Sheldon Williams. Interment was at the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Life Sketch

Mrs. Fred C. Corneliussen was born April 10, 1886 in Ames to the late H. Martha Thompson. She died at her home in Story City Monday afternoon, February 5. She moved to Story City with her parents in her infancy. The family moved to Thor, Iowa when she was nine years old and later to Fort Dodge where she grew to young womanhood. She attended the Fort Dodge schools and St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.

On June 3, 1908 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ft. Dodge, where she had been confirmed and served as organist, she became the wife of Fred C. Corneliussen of Story City. Subsequent to her marriage, she lived in the Story City community throughout her life, and was active in many organizations. She was a member of the Grace E.U.B. Church Women's Society of World Service, and the Story City Memorial Hospital Guild from the time they organized and held State office in the Iowa Federated Woman's Club.

She was a charter member of Chapter FZ, P.E.O. and a past matron of Eastern Star. She taught the Women's Council class at Grace E.U.B. Church for many years and was a member of its Ladies Aid Society from the time she was married.

Survivors include her husband, Fred; a son, Captain Steven T. Corneliussen, U.S.N. of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Celia) Beckett of Conroe, Texas and Mrs. C. N. (Ruth) Anderson of Ankeny; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. G. W. Sowers of Story City, Mrs. Fred Heileman and Mrs. Fred Henderson of Fort Dodge; and a brother Maurice Thompson of Fort Dodge.
