Leroy E. Wade, 74, died Friday, March 19 of heart failure at the Nelson Manor Care Center in Newton. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24 at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. Danny Hodges officiating. Burial was at the Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his name, Iowa Bone Marrow Transplant fund or Community Heights Alliance Church College Endowment Fund.
He was the son of Sidney and Anna Stewart Wade, born September 22, 1924 in Thor, Iowa. Mr. Wade was a 1942 graduate of Colfax High School and resident here until he moved to Newton in 1952. He married Helen Bricker, March 24, 1944 in Newton. Mr. Wade was a Supervisor in the Sheet Metal Department at Maytag and retired in 1976, was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton and Maytag Management Club.
Survivors include his wife, Helen B. Wade, 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney Wade and Darlene Mason Wade, of Spokane, Washington; Leslie “Tuck” and Pam Wade, of Newton, Iowa; Chris and Julie Wade of Rouge, Louisiana; John and Rita Wade of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, George and Erlene Wade of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a special daughter-in-law, Laneta Wade, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
