17 June 1900 ---- 28 December 1981

Ralph William Van Zwol, the son of Albert and Henrietta Boms Van Zwol, was born on June 17, 1900 at LeMars, Iowa. He graduated from the Sheldon High School in the Class of 1918. During World War I, he served in the U. S. Army. He was united in marriage with Vyvienne Dockendorf on Sept. 28, 1923 at Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa Dental College in 1927. After graduation he moved to Eagle Grove, where he practiced dentistry until retiring in 1962. During World War II, Ralph served from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy. After retiring, Ralph and Yyvienne moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they lived until 1979, when they moved back to Eagle Grove. He died at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove on Monday, afternoon, Dec. 28, 1981 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 11 days. He had only entered the Rotary Ann Home shortly before he died.

He is survived by his wife, Yyvienne of Eagle Grove; his sons, Ralph W. Van Zwol, Jr., Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard T. Van Zwol of Melbourne, Iowa; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services for Dr. Ralph W. Van Zwol, were held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. Rev. Kenneth R. Reiter officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Tuesday.
