Marvin LeRoy Anderson was born August 25, 1926, son of Edward and Nellie (Van Dusseldorp) Anderson. Marvin died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care at the age of 92. He attended Erin Township, Hancock County School through the eighth grade. Marvin served in the Army for a short time from 1946 – 1947.
On June 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Norma Hippen on her parent’s farm in Renwick. Together they started farming in Corwith in 1947 until moving to Hardy in 1954 to continue farming. Later they moved to Springvale Independent Living in Humboldt on December 1, 2013.
Marvin enjoyed CB radio, polka music, and German Shepherd dogs. He had a keen interest for farming and working on tractors. He was always willing to go the extra mile for his neighbors. He loved all his family, being involved and genuinely interested in the lives of his kids and grandkids. Marvin was a gentle man with a servant heart and loved teaching his family strong faith.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma; children, Marcia (Harvey) Aluni of Virginia, MN, Paul (Marian) Anderson of Dakota City, IA; grandchildren, Karen (Troy) Flicek, Cheryl (Jeff) Tweten, Brian Aluni. Step-grandson, James Lloyd; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Sophia, Clara Flicek and Alex Tweten; brother, Jim (Roxie) Anderson of Lemars, IA; and sister, Arlene Engh of Kanawha, IA. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Gerald (Anne) Anderson, Donald (Donna) Anderson; infant sister, Sharon and brother-in-law, Willis Engh.
