P. Middleton funeral set for Monday
Paul E. Middleton (Sr.), 71, retired mechanic at Pritchard Motors, died suddenly Saturday morning at his home, 912 8th NE. He had been employed at Pritchards for more than 25 years. Mr. Middleton was born Aug. 7, 1894, at Eagle Grove, son of Jesse C. and Frances (Allen) Middleton. He was graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended Iowa State College, Ames, before he enlisted in the U.S. Army field artillery in July 1917. He was married to Geneva Johnson July 19, 1917, in Eagle Grove. He received his discharge from the Army Dec. 7, 1918, and returned to Eagle Grove, where he farmed until 1938, when they moved to Mason City. He was employed at Pritchard Motors until 1960, when he retired. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Geneva, Mason City; a son, Paul E. Middleton Jr., Mason City; two grandchildren; three brothers, Guy Middleton, Clarion, and Lee and Lyle Middleton, both of Webster City; and a sister, Mrs. Clyde (Frances) Eppard, East St. Louis, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Middleton, and two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Bessie McVicker and Mrs. Roy (Florence) McVicker.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Duane Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled at the Major - Erickson Funeral Home from 5 p.m. Saturday until noon Monday.
