November 14, 1938 --- September 26, 2018

Springfield, MO - Marilyn Ann (Johnson) Scott was born on November 14th, 1938 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Emory and Evelyn (Hansel) Johnson. She departed unexpectedly on September 26th, 2018 to join God, her husband and other relatives in heaven. Marilyn graduated in 1956 from Popejoy High School, in Popejoy, Iowa and then completed one year of college at University of Northern Iowa. She married Jeffry James Scott on August 22, 1957 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerald Johnson, and sister-in-law Dina Galbraith. Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Ann Conn and Sherryl Casey; four grandsons, Justin (Maica) Casey and great grandson Bennett and great grandson Reed to be born in November, Chad (Kate) Conn and great granddaughter Elise, Sean (Kayla) Casey and great grandsons Rhett and Weston, and Nick Conn; sisters Carol Shear, Patricia (Mervin) Berkland, sister-in-law Arlet Johnson, brother-in-law Mark Galbraith and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn joined her husband in the jewelry business in 1973, where they together created beautiful jewelry and lifelong friends. In the early 1990s they opened Marilyn's Fine Jewelry on Park Central Square so they could better serve their customers and friends.

She had a passion for basketball and her and Jeff attended nearly every game during Cheryl Bernett's and Charlie Spoonhour's reign at SMSU. They also enjoyed Friday evening dinners and weekend breakfasts with their family and friends.

The Sunday paper Sudoku and books of crosswords will now go unsolved. She enjoyed group bus tours and finding treasures at various antique shops around the country.

The lead-footed matriarch never got somewhere slow, unless her husband Jeff was driving.

Her neighbors will miss the decorations that changed with the holidays and seasons. Her greatest love was her family and they will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hazelwood Cemetery, under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Ltd., DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory. Memorials are suggested to The Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children or SAAF Spay and Neuter Clinic, 1600 North Washington, Springfield, MO. 65803.
