Norman C. Larson, 92, formerly of Humboldt, passed away March 18, 2018 at his home at Cedar Crest Assisted Living in Silver Lake, MN. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Lissa Kahl officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 10-11 am Thursday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

Norman Charles Larson, the son of Richard Ray and Anna Marie (Wedergren) Larson, was born May 31, 1925 on a farm near Craig, Nebraska. He was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran Church at Uehling, Nebraska. He attended country school in Burt County, Nebraska and graduated from Craig High School. On August 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Snow at the First Methodist Church in Tekama, Nebraska. In May of 1948, Norman began his career with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. The couple moved to Renwick, Iowa and Norman worked for the C/N railroad in Eagle Grove as a fireman, later becoming a locomotive engineer.

In Renwick, Dorothy and Norman also owned and operated the Corner Store Grocery and B&L Sundries Drugstore and Soda Fountain. Norman Retired after 40 years of service to the railroad and the couple them made their home in Humboldt. Dorothy passed away in July of 2011 and Norman continued to maintain his home until becoming a resident of Cedar Crest Assisted Living in Silver Lake, MN. Norman was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Renwick before becoming a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt and attended Dove of Peace Lutheran Church during winters in Tucson. AZ. He served as past Chairman of the Brotherhood of Firemen and Enginemen and past Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He enjoyed hunting and trap shooting and was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Tucson Rod and Gun Club, and Humboldt Pistol and Rifle Club. He enjoyed golfing at Hillside Golf Club and Deer Creek Golf Club. He was an artistic man who enjoyed painting, woodworking, and leatherwork and will always be remembered by his family as a loving father and grandfather.

Norman is survived by his children, Greg (Sharlene) Larson of Tucson, AZ, and Lisa (Steve) Klobe of Lester Prairie, MN; and grandchildren, Matthew Larson, Brock Klobe, and Erin Klobe. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Merlyn and Rose Marie Larson; and Brother-in-law, Carl and Betty Snow.
