Kathryn Kay Bowden, 72, of Mitchellville, Iowa died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Mitchell Village Care Center. Kay was born March 10, 1944 in Hampton, IA to Wallace and Kathryn (Moore) Cooper and moved to Mitchellville in 1975 after six years in Des Moines. She worked for 34 years with the Department of Human Services before retiring in 2005.

Kay enjoyed ceramics, counted cross stitch and collecting Indian dolls. She was a long time supporter of St. Jude Children's Charities. She will be remembered as a loving person, devoted to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Kathryn Cooper of Des Moines; son, Tom Bowden (Rose Burruss) of Altoona; daughter, Jodi Bowden-Fuentes (Florentino Fuentes) of Des Moines; and four grandchildren, Zack and Charlotte Bowden, T.J. and Josh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Bowden; son, Erik Bowden, father, Wallace Cooper; an infant brother and infant son.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 at the Mitchellville Cemetery. Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home;
