Funeral services for Sadie M. Kirstein were held from the First United Methodist Church in Clarion on Thursday morning at 10:30. Rev. Jerald G. Swanberg officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. The Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Kirstein died on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1988 at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital. She was 94. Mrs. Paul Loomis was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Chapman were the vocalists. Casket bearers were: Paul, Phil and Randy Kirstein, Kenneth Adams, Dean Bohy and Clint Chapman.
Sadie was born on March 16, 1893 in Illinois and came with her family as a child to a farm near Webster City. She received her education in the schools of Hamilton County and then taught in the Wright County rural schools. On March 19, 1913 she was married to Fred Kirstein at Webster City. They farmed in Woolstock Township until his death in 1963. She continued to live on the farm until moving to Clarion in 1973. In 1980 she moved to the Clarion Care Center. Survivors include a son, Robert of Clarion, eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, a son, Bill, and a great grandchild preceded her in death. In the past, she had been an active member, of the ladies groups of First United Methodist Church and a 4-H leader.
