Frank E. Gibbs, 77, of Honolulu, died Saturday at his home. Mr. Gibbs came to Hawaii in 1945 as agency manager of Occidential Life Insurance Agency, and in 1947 organized the American Mutual Life Insurance Agency. He served on the board of directors of Hawaiian Life Insurance, City Bank, Goodwill Industries and the Pohai Nani Retirement Home. Memorial services will be held 5 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Beretania. Inurnment at Diamond Head Memorial Park will be private. The family requests that casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church or charity are suggested.

Mr. Gibbs was born in Klemme, Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Blanche; two sons, Douglas and John; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
