Orpha Irene Pritchard, 93, was born September 27, 1924 in Crocker, Iowa and attended Eagle Grove, Franklin, and Polk City High Schools, graduating in 1942. On February 4, 1948, she married Arthur Pritchard of Madrid and they farmed near Slater for 52 years. She resided in the Madrid Home from 2000 to September 6, 2018, serving on the Madrid Home Resident Council. She was a member of the Hopkins Grove United Methodist Church.

Orpha loved chickens and cats and had many pets through the years. One of her favorite pastimes was washing and waxing the family car, a necessity when living on a gravel road.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur; her parents, Henry L. and Gertrude (Bell) Wood; brothers Virgil and Russell (LaMonte) Wood; and sisters Roberta and Belle Wood. Survivors include her sister Margaret (Wood) Lehman, son LaVern (Linda Ulbrich), Minneapolis; daughter Marsha (Walt) Johnson, Olathe; and grandchildren Greg Pritchard, Los Angeles; Katherine (Dave) Ellison, Minneapolis; and Ben Johnson, Olathe.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9 at the Madrid Home Chapel, 613 West North Street, Madrid, IA 50156, with services following at 2:00 p.m. Burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
