Master Sgt. David LaVerne Brekke, Jr., US Air Force, Ret., 52, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Sunday morning in a North Charleston hospital. All services will be private according to Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, PCC Box 1115, Charleston, SC 29403. Master Sgt. Brekke was born Nov. 4, 1958, in Norfolk, VA, a son of David L. Brekke, Sr., and Arnetta Franks Brekke Chamberlin. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a veteran of the Gulf War. He was currently working as an associate at Walmart. Master Sgt. Brekke loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and hiking. He also liked music and reading. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Brekke. Surviving are his mother of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his father of Norfolk, VA; four brothers, Mike Brekke of Moncks Corner, Robert Brekke of Jefferson, GA, and Bill and Joe Brekke both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
