SAN MARCOS, CA --- Like so many lucky people, Harry Charles Anderson came 40 years ago to live in San Diego County. Harry was born December 14, 1915 and died July 23, 2018, 102 years later. (Like an enthusiastic three year-old, he would insist on including that half!); Born to Myrtle and Jay Anderson in Hardy, Iowa, his siblings were Doyle; twins Virginia and Vernice; Myrna, and Carol. All migrated to the same San Diego County mobile home community in retirement. Introduced by their common friend Dorothy Six, Harry eloped with Fern Milligan in 1935, to live happily together until Fern died in 1982. Harry was on a ship August 1946 heading to Japan to join in the second wave of attack on Japan. He credits his long life to no alcohol, no smoking, and the good luck of the two atom bombings in Japan, ending World War II. He made some life-long friends during the occupation of Japan. His photo shows his treasured sake cup. Harry supported his wife and children as a star printer supply clerk in Los Angeles. Harry and Fern loved collecting seashells, rocks, fossils, and Indian artifacts in the 1940's through the 1970's. They lived in Bell, CA. Their shell collection now resides in the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. He enthusiastically supported the "In Stiches" sewing group located in his mobile home community as they made items for unwed mothers in Foothills high school.

He is survived by his son Richard Anderson (Lynn) of Modesto; daughter Elaine Lutz of Hanford; grandchildren Kathaleen Carri (Tony) of Hanford; Christian Lutz (Jose) of Burbank; great grandchildren CJ and Ethan Lutz; Ryan and Bryce Carri (Brianna); Dalila and Adam Lutz. He was predeceased by his grandson Michael Lutz (Lisa). Burial was private.
