STRATFORD, IA - Christelle E. Bergquist, 70, of Stratford, died Saturday at Littleton, Colo., at the home of a nephew, LuVerne Westfal. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist church in Stratford with the Rev. Leland Eyres officiating and with burial in the South Marion cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral home in Stratford on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon when the body will be taken to the church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Bergquist and three grandchildren, Alan, Carla and Scott Bergquist, all of Stratford.

Mrs. Bergquist was born Feb. 28, 1907, in Jefferson, Iowa, the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred [Ellen Okerstrom] Nordblom. On June 10, 1936, she married Roy E. Bergquist at Lanyon, Iowa. She was a graduate of Drake University, and between the years 1930 and 1936 she taught in the Goldfield, Tingley, Monroe and Stanhope community schools. She was active in many church organizations; was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church at Stratford; the Women's Club of Stratford and the Sigma Epsilon-Delta Zata sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, who died in June 1977; by one son and one step-sister.
