Former Resident Died Monday

Mrs. Augusta Sweet died at her home in Los Angeles, Calif., Monday. Mrs. Sweet was a sister of the late Mrs. Mary Haukole. She was better known here as Mrs. Hollander. Mr. Hollander, an engineer on the Northwestern, was killed in a wreck at Hubbard, Iowa, nearly 40 years ago. Later she moved to California and remarried. Mrs. Elling Weeks of Milwaukee, Mrs. Sweet's niece, left for California Monday and expected to accompany the remains to Eagle Grove. Burial will take place in Rose Hill cemetery by the side of her husband.

Mrs. Augusta Sweet Buried Tuesday

The funeral of Mrs. Augusta Sweet of Los Angeles, Calif., was held from the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn officiating. The music consisted of a duet, "Sweet Hour of Prayer", by Mrs. Fannie Cotton and Mrs. Vina Hall, and a solo. "Face to Face" by Mrs. Fannie Cotton.

Mrs. Augusta Sweet, the daughter of Charles and Mary Krum, was born in Manitowoc, Wis., March 15, 1860, and passed away at her home in Los Angeles, Calif., Jan. 11, 1937, her age being at the time of her death, 76 years, 9 months and 27 days. She came to Eagle Grove in 1885. Her first husband, Louis Hollander, was killed in a C. & N. W. Railroad wreck in 1898, at Hubbard. Iowa. In 1909 she removed to California where she became the wife of James E. Sweet. He preceded her in death 10 years ago. She was never blessed with children, but was devoted to her nieces, who survive their aunt, Mrs. Ada Haukole Weeks of Milwaukee, Mrs. Belle Burch of Chicago and Mrs. Lilly Holsen of Manitowoc, Wis. She was a business woman, beloved by all who had dealings with her, as was evidenced by the large attendance of these people at her memorial service held at Los Angeles, Calif. She was a life-long member of the German Lutheran church at Manitowoc, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Elling Weeks and daughter, Peggy Jane of Milwaukee, and Mrs. W. H. Holsen of Manitowoc, Wis., were here to attend the funeral.
