Eunice Claire Morgan Thomason
24 January 1905 ---- 9 August 1983

Mrs. Eunice Claire Thomason, the daughter of Ernest and Rosa Simon Morgan, was born on Jan. 24, 1905 in Troy Township near Eagle Grove. As a small child, she lived with her parents in South Dakota and in Humboldt County, and then the family moved to a farm near Eagle Grove, where she received her education in the rural schools. When she was 12 years old, her mother died and she had to assume the duties of being a housekeeper for her father and brothers. Later her father was married to Lavinna Abernathy.

On Feb. 9, 1927, she was united in marriage to Wayne Thomason at the Baptist parsonage in Eagle Grove. The couple lived on a farm in the Headgrove area in Woolstock Township near Eagle Grove. She was a long-time member of the Baptist Church and had served on many of the church boards and committees and was active in the Sunday School. She was also active in the WCTU and the birthday clubs of the area.

She had been in the Clarion hospital for a week and then was taken to the Mercy Hospital in Mason City, where she died Aug. 9, 1983, at the age of 78 years, six months and 15 days.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Thomason of rural Eagle Grove; two brothers, Curtis Morgan of Belmond and Marion Morgan of Thompson; two sisters, Esther, Mrs. Merle Eittreim of Eagle Grove; and Jeanette, Mrs. Lyle Sampson of Vincent and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, including her step-mother, a sister, Mrs. Alta Brady and two brothers, Millard and Floren Morgan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wayne (Eunice) Thomason, were held on Friday, Aug. 12,1983 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Charles Dutton, former pastor, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
