Paulina (Drescher) Hittenmark

Paulina Drescher was born in Yenna, Germany, April 14th, 1842, was married at the age of 19 to Charles Hittenmark. To this union eight children were born, four boys and four girls. One boy and one girl died in early childhood. In 1873, they moved to America and settled at Bellville, Illinois, from there they moved to Davenport and later to Newton, Iowa. In 1883 they settled on a farm, 5 miles east of Manson, Ia., at which place the father died February 28. Soon after she moved
to Pomeroy where she made her home until 1909, when she moved to Burley, Idaho, where she lived on a farm with her daughter. In September 1918, she returned to Eagle Grove to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Myers, at which place she died Wednesday, January 1, 1919. She leaves six children to mourn her death, three sons, O. F. Hittenmark of Pomeroy, David and Herman of Kansas City, Kans., and three daughters, Mrs. L. B. Ritter of Newton, Ia., Mrs. L. R. Oliver of Burley, Idaho, and Mrs. W. A. Myers of Eagle Grove, la. The deceased was a devout Christian and a member of the German Lutheran church, having united with the same in the early days of her childhood. The remains were taken Friday morning to Pomeroy, where the funeral services were held.
