Donald Leo Bauman, the son of Nicholas G. and Elizabeth Maiers Bauman, was born on July 13, 1927, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Woolstock, Iowa area, attending country school and graduating from Woolstock High School in 1945. He served during WWII in the United States Army from December of 1945 to May of 1947. He was united in marriage to Doris Crosby on October 19, 1951, in Eagle Grove. He was a lifelong resident of Woolstock, living on a farm near Woolstock where he worked as a hired hand for Harvey Jones, they then moved to town in 1954. He worked for F. G. Jones for 39 years as a small engine mechanic, working on lawn mowers and small tractors. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former volunteer fireman for the Woolstock Fire Department.

Donald L. Bauman died on Thursday, September 20, 2001, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort
Dodge, Iowa, at the age of 74. Survivors include his Wife, Doris, Woolstock; one son, Leonard Bauman, and wife, Gretta, Clarion, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Roger Bauman, and wife, Delores, Eagle Grove; one sister, Marian Berg, and husband, Gene, Eagle Grove; and one sister-in-law, Marcella Bauman, Story City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Nick Bauman.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 24, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Eagle Grove, with Father David Beckman officiating. Burial was held in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
