W. DONALD CLOWES
William Donald Clowes was born January 26, 1914, on a farm northeast of Renwick, to James and Edna Provan Clowes. He received his early education in the rural Renwick school system, graduating from Renwick High School in 1932. After graduation, he began farming with his parents. In 1940, he married Elsie Hunt at her home near LuVerne. The couple lived and farmed north of Renwick until 1968 when they moved to their farm near Hardy. He was a past member of the Renwick Elevator Board and had served on the Boone Valley Board of Education for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Renwick for 68 years. He held various church offices and served on many different committees.

W. Donald Clowes, 78, Renwick, died Wednesday, December 9, 1992, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Malcolm, and one sister, Jeanette Darland. He is survived by his wife; his three daughters, Dawn and her husband, Ed Jensen, of Wellman; Diane and her husband, Loren Adam of Gowrie; and Donell and her husband, David Doering of Mason City; six grandchildren, Ryan, Kari, Meagan and Eric Adam, Gowrie; and Jennifer and Christopher Doering, Mason City; one sister, Charlotte Gorrell, LeMars; one sister-in-law, Ina Clowes, Renwick; several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend and farming associate of 44 years, Don Wilson of Hardy.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Renwick. The Rev. Shirley Rozendaal officiated. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, rural Renwick. Arrangements, were made by the Garry-Rpberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.
