Lloyd Joseph Larson, 92, of Eagle Grove, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Lloyd Joseph Larson was born June 27, 1911, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Benjamin and Christine Bertine (Roseland) Larson. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. From 1942 to 1945, Lloyd served in the United States Army in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was the custodian for East Side Lutheran Church and Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove from October 2, 1932 to October 2, 1977. He also worked for the Eagle Grove Greenhouses for 40 years. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, he taught Sunday School for 45 years, has served as President and Secretary of the Family Fellowship, one term as Deacon, and was holder of the Lamb Award. He was also a member of the American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, and a BSA Leader. In 1970, Lloyd received the Silver Beaver — A National Award in Scouting. Survivors include his nephew, Paul Larson and his wife, Maxine, two great nephews, Todd and Chris Larson, a great-niece, Jennifer Stutzman, and an aunt, Esther Roseland, of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Melinda, and a sister, Caroline Larson. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
