1 September 1936 ----- 28 January 1961Mrs. Marvin Roseland of Eagle Grove died early Saturday morning Jan. 28 as the result of a one car accident at Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth Torvik Pastor, Tuesday at 2 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Kay Arlee Roseland was born Sept. 1, 1936 in Goldfield to Burkett and Lavonne Johnson Freeman. She attended the Goldfield public schools. She was baptized and a member until her marriage of the Methodist Church in Goldfield. On April 4, 1953, she married Marvin J. Roseland of Eagle Grove and became a confirmed member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. They made their home in Eagle Grove. She died at the age of 24 years, 4 months, 28 days. Her husband and three children Jerry Dean 7, Teri Lynn 6, and Vicki Kay, 4 survive her. Also surviving her untimely death are her parents, one sister, Mary Jeanne and two brothers, Michael, a student at ISTC and Douglas, all of Goldfield. her grandmother, Mrs. Janet Freeman of Humboldt and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Johnson of Kanawha.

An auto accident in Eagle Grove last Friday night resulted in the death of Mrs Kay Roseland, 24, of Eagle Grove, and serious injury to her husband, Marvin. According to the attending physician at Mercy hospital in Fort Dodge, Marvin has a broken neck and undetermined other injuries. He is listed as being in "fair" condition. Sheriff Robert Blecker said he had been unable to see Roseland to get his account of the accident. As nearly as the investigating officers can determine the accident occurred about 11:55 p.m. on Friday, January 27 when the Roseland car slammed into the Great Western depot on Eastern Avenue. Marvin apparently was driving the car.Discovered Accident
Jerry Spangler of Eagle Grove was the first to discover the accident approximately "three to five minutes" after it happened, according to Blecker. Spangler notified G. O. Gibson, Eagle Grove policeman, who in turn called Blecker who had just passed through Eagle Grove. According to information gathered by Blecker and Gibson, the Roselands had just left the Spangler residence and were going north on Eastern Avenue when the accident occurred. Spangler was taking his baby-sitter home when he found them.Mrs. Roseland died about 12:20 a.m. of a "depressed skull fracture" according to the Wright county medical examiner's report. The ambulance was on the way to the hospital when she died. The Roseland children, Jerry Dean, 7, Teri Lynn, 6 and Vicki Kay, 4, were not with their parents when the accident occurred. Mrs. Roseland is the first traffic victim of 1961 in Wright county and the first within the city limits of Eagle Grove since 1959. Roseland is the operator of the D-X Tank wagon in Eagle Grove. He is also a member of the Eagle Grove volunteer fire department and is a relief driver for the department. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Roseland of Eagle Grove. Mrs. Roseland was employed at the Boone Valley egg plant. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Burkett Freeman of Goldfield.
