May 6, 1926Miss Malinda Johnson, was born December 22, 1871 at Strandebarm, Hardanger, [Hordaland] Norway, and died in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Wednesday, May 5, 1926, age 54 years, 4 months, and 13 days. Miss Johnson left her home in Norway the 28th of September, 1906 and arrived in Eagle Grove in October. Since then she has made Eagle Grove her home. She was for some time employed at the orphans home in Stoughton, Wis., and also at the orphans' home in Beloit, Iowa, but she spent most of her time in the service of her many friends here in Eagle Grove. About a year ago her health began to fail her. Medical aid was sought but it seemed that no lasting help could be given her. She suffered intensely at times until death relieved her tired body. About four years ago, I believe, Miss Johnson, experienced an awakening spiritually. This brought her back to her childhood God and she gradually grew into a firm faith in Christ Jesus, her Savior. On her deathbed she longed much to depart to be with her Savior.
She now leaves to mourn her departure, her aged father, and four sisters in Norway, one sister Mrs. Hannah Netland of Eagle Grove; and one brother, Tom Berg also of Eagle Grove, together with a large number of friends. Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, from the home on North Iowa avenue and the East Side Lutheran church.
