Jay Alan Albaugh, 56, of Waverly, Iowa formerly of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, July 12, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born Sept. 22, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, son of Ernest "Ernie" and Nancy (Parker) Albaugh. On Aug. 2, 1985, he married Shelly Weber in Livonia, La. He graduated from Lincoln Community School in Stanwood. He was a paramedic for East Baton Rouge Parish EMS, Waverly Health Center, Franklin General Hospital and most recently Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond, where he was Employee of the Year in 2015. He retired due to ill health in April 2018.
Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Sarah (Tyler) Kramer of Shell Rock and Melissa (Tyler Garcia) Albaugh of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Harrison and Calvin Kramer; his father of Waverly; and a sister, Susan (Dave) Felder of Torbert, La. Preceded in death by: his mother.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, July 15, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to the family.
Jay had a passion for helping people in need. He enjoyed woodworking and helping his daughters with their many Pinterest projects, attending concerts with Shelly, watching the Chicago Bears with his Mom and visiting the gun range with his Dad. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
