George Christians, 91, of Edgerton died on Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, 9:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed church in Edgerton with Rev. Timothy Brown officiating. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery of Edgerton. Area survivors include his wife, Nellie Christians; son, Clares Christians; and sisters; Ella De Poorter, Tena Zwart, and Florence Walhof, of Edgerton. ...Children and grandchildren from a distance attending the funeral of George Christians on Saturday, July 12, were von Romeyn and Dick Roach, Harley and Lynn Romeyn and family, all of Grand Rapids, Mich., Marsha Brock and family of Dorr, Mich., Sandy and Gary Vogelaar and family of Jenison, Mich., Janice and Wayne Haveman and family of Moline, Mich., Dr. Byron and Heidi Hoogwerf, and Byron Hoogwerf II and family, all of Cleveland, Ohio. Also attending were Nellie's sisters, Stella Verbrugge of Orange City, Iowa, and Alice and Alfred van Schepen of Ireton, Iowa, and many Christians, Verbrugge, Hoogwerf and Bolt relatives from Iowa, South Dakota, Michigan, California, and Washington, D.C., and cousins from Kanawha, Iowa.
