Monte Eugene Kastler, Sr., son of John Henry Kastler and P. Jane (Hitchcock) Kastler was born July 30, 1952 in Webster City, Iowa and passed from this life suddenly, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home in Osceola, IA at 65 years of age.

Monte grew up near Woolstock, Iowa and moved with his family to their farm North of Osceola when he was younger. He graduated from Clarke Community High School. He enjoyed raising horses and showing horses, and watching Westerns. Monte loved the Iowa State Fair and attended the fair every year of his life. Monte worked at Firestone and Wilson Packing and was a strong Union supporter.

Those relatives who preceded Monte in death were his parents, John and Jane Kastler, sisters, Jane and Cyndi Kastler, and aunts, Helen Kastler and Florence Murphy, uncle Bill and Ilene Hitchcock. Monte leaves to cherish his memory; son, Monte (Brandi) Kastler, Jr. of Osceola, IA, son, Casey Kastler of Osceola, IA, sister, Connie Kastler of Osceola, IA, brother, John (Jan) Kastler of Omaha, NE, grandsons, Ryne and Henry Kastler both of Osceola, IA, nieces, Sarah Kastler and Rachel (Jim) Emary and their family all of Omaha, NE as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Cory Danley officiating. Visitation with family present was one hour prior to the services Monday. Interment was 3 p.m. Monday in French Church Cemetery near Woolstock. Memorial Contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date.
