Elizabeth "Betty" Schoonover, 90, Waupun, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Prairie Ridge in Waupun. Betty was born March 30, 1928, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Eugene and Erna Mueller Stahl. Betty graduated from Sheboygan North High School. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Extension and later Mission House in Sheboygan where she met her future husband. On Jan. 24, 1948, she married Robert "Bob" Schoonover in Klemme, Iowa. The couple resided in Waupun all their married lives. After raising their family, Betty was employed at Waupun Middle School as a secretary for many years. Betty was in the same bridge club since 1948. She loved to be of service and was a very active member of Waupun United Methodist Church, serving on many committees. She was a past president of Church Women United and Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Betty loved Tuttle Lake where their family vacationed since 1952. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, David E. Schoonover (Joan Mitchell) of Green Bay, Beth (Keith) Irish of Neenah, and Jane Derksen of Huntington, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Kip Irish of Oshkosh, Marnie (David) Hyland of Madison, Missy (Marty) Stordeur of Colorado, Lynn Schoonover of Green Bay, Amy (Adrian) Barroso of Australia, Neil Derksen of Lakeland, Washington, and Megan Derksen of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and seven great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Schoonover in 2010; and brother, Dr. George Stahl.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at Waupun United Methodist Church with the Rev. Deb Hastings officiating. Relatives and friends may call on the family Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home of Waupun is serving the family.
