Arthur M. Peterson, 94, of Fort Dodge passed away on May 10, 2018 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14, with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dr. Blackwell will officiate. Please refrain from sending any flower arrangements due to allergies. Green plants are welcomed.

Arthur Marvin Peterson was born on September 5, 1923 near Belmond, Iowa in Wright County. Arthur was adopted by Andrew & Mary Scott at age seven. Following the completion of 8th grade, Arthur began working at Lyle’s in Eagle Grove and later as a mechanic for Shimkat Motor Co. where he remained for several years. Arthur married Alta Orr on December 23, 1945 at her parent’s home in Eagle Grove.

Arthur enjoyed fixing and tweaking everything and listening to polka and country music. Arthur could always be found near Wendy’s where he received a free chocolate frosty. He would walk to get ice cream almost every day. He was a gentle soul and will be deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Alta Peterson, one daughter Jean (Mike) Miller of Duncombe, daughters-in-law Joan Peterson of Fort Dodge and Lori Peterson of Huntsville, AL; Grandchildren Shelley (Jack) Bair of Duncombe, Shawn Miller of Webster City, Kris Kirk and Kim Peterson of Fort Dodge, Eric (Brenna) Peterson of Ames, Harold (Lindsey) Peterson of Juneau, Alaska and Leslie Peterson of El Cajon, CA as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, two sons James and Harold Peterson, great-grandson Bret Miller, as well as 6 siblings.
