December 20, 1950 ---- May 7, 2018

A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Renwick United Methodist Church. Food will be provided. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial in his name to the Renwick United Methodist Church; Hospice of North Iowa or the Renwick Ambulance.

Fred DeLos Hefty was born December 20, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Anna (Rowley) Hefty. He grew up in Renwick where he attended school and graduated from the Boone Valley High School in 1969. He went on to attend Iowa State University where he graduated with a BS in Dairy Science in 1973 and a BS in Ag Mechanics in 1975. He began working at a dairy farm with his dad and brother.

On August 5, 1978, Fred was united in marriage to Glenda Dadisman at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly. After their marriage they lived in Renwick before moving to Nebraska and later Wisconsin where Fred worked as a herdsman. They moved back to Renwick and Fred worked at the Boone Valley Implement and worked as a welder at various manufacturing jobs in Kanawha, Clarion and Humboldt. He was most recently working at the Fastway in Renwick.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, mowing, woodworking and really enjoyed helping with the kids at Glenda's daycare. Fred was an active member of the Renwick United Methodist Church, serving on the Administrative Council and was currently serving on the Renwick City Council.

Fred died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. He was 67.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda of Renwick; sons, Jared Hefty and fiancé, Emma Dixey of London, England; Shane Hefty and fiancé, Amy Hughes of Windsor Heights; one grandson, Aiden Hefty. Also surviving are siblings, Frank and Lu Ann Hefty of Caty, Texas; Bruce Hefty and Ruth Engelman of Hardy; Rose and Denny Wubker of Des Moines and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
