August Everett Coltvet, son of Tores and Mathilda Coltvet, was born August 26, 1908 on a farm west of Eagle Grove, Iowa and passed away at a hospital in Denver, Colo., December 28, 1946, at the age of 38 years and 4 months. Mr. Coltvet spent one month at Rochester, Minn., in March, 1946 and apparently recovered after an operation. In the middle of November he again became ill and sought medical aid in Denver, Colorado.
In his youth, Mr. Coltvet was baptized and confirmed in Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church of Eagle Grove where he was a member at the time of his death. He was graduated from the Eagle Grove high school in 1926 and since that time had been engaged in farming together with his brother Elmer who passed away October 2, 1946. On June 12, 1938 he was united in marriage to Helen Jorgensen. To this union three children were born, Marlene, Arnold and Charles.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers, Carl, Benjamin, and Elmer. He is survived by his wife and children, two brothers, Milford of Madella, Minn., Harold of Rutland, Iowa and five sisters, Ella O'Brien and Madeline Campbell of Pasadena, Calif., Emma Miller and Amanda Van Horn of Denver, Colo., and Alice Legvold of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Mr. Coltvet was a kind and loving father and husband and will be greatly missed by the family and a host of friends in the community.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church, with Rev. H. C. Bakken officiating. Interment was made in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
