Harry A. Pringnitz, 85, of Waukee formerly of Urbandale, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale with a private family burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Iles Westover Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. by the Acanthus Masonic Lodge # 632.

Harry was born in Klemme, IA, November 10, 1932, son of the late Harry Arthur and Florence Mabel (Trumbell) Pringnitz. He received his education in Klemme and graduated from Swaledale High School. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following his discharge he returned to Swaledale and worked for Eddy Lumber Company installing television antennas. In 1954 he took a job with Bell System where he retired after 35 years working as a Corporate Evaluator

On April 6, 1956, he married June E. Allen in Mason City. They made their home in various communities in Iowa, settling in Urbandale in 1968 until June of last year when they moved to Legacy Pointe in Waukee. Harry enjoyed woodcarving, working in his garden with his roses and tomatoes, golfing and his Canada fishing trips. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 52 year member of Masonic Lodge, Master Mason of Acanthus Lodge # 632, ZaGaZig Shrine, 32nd Degree member Scottish Rite, Urbandale Lions Club, Telephone Pioneers, Former member of Hillcrest Country Club-Adel and Mid Iowa Woodcarvers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Homer and a sister Helen Schmock. Harry is survived by his wife June, three daughters; LaNell Larson of Kansas City, MO, Ellen (Craig) Verlo of West Branch, IA and Karen (Jeff) Denny of Lakeville, MN, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a sister Jacqulen (Donald) Trca of Garner, IA.

Memorials may be directed to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity of your choice. Iles Westover Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
