Edwin H. Thiemann, the son of Herman and Minnie (Warner) Thiemann, was born July 17, 1913 at the family farm home east of Klemme. He attended rural school then graduated from Klemme High School in 1932. After one semester of college, Ed decided he was a farmer at heart, so he returned to Klemme to help his father on the family farm.
In 1937, he married Lillian Brown and they farmed the family farm for 40 years. A son, Larry, and a daughter, Joice, made up their family. They retired from farming in 1977, moving to Clear Lake where Ed pursued his hobby of refinishing furniture, restoring antiques and playing golf.
He was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. He was respected and admired for his love of music expressed in his younger years as he sang in choir and quartets. His outstanding contribution was his desire to work with and help young people in 4-H and Sunday School, Farm Bureau leadership and church projects.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; a son, Larry of Blue Grass; a daughter, Joice TenHaken of Clear Lake; one sister, Mildred Hoveland of Mason City; four grandchildren, Mark Thiemann, Sara Thiemann, Nathan TenHaken and Heather TenHaken; one great-grandchild, Dylan Thiemann; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Alvin Thiemann.
