HOLMEN, WI - Henry "Hank" F. Meyers, 86, of Holmen died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Titonka, Iowa, to Henry and Florence (Gerdis) Meyers. He served with the U.S. Army in the infantry during World War II. Hank was a member of the VFW. He was a member of AA, maintaining sobriety since Aug. 28, 1963. Hank married Mildred A. "Arlene" (McGraw) on Aug. 28, 1970. Most of his working life was with the Rock Island Railroad. He retired from the construction industry as the owner of Homes by Hank. Hank loved to read and enjoyed railroad paraphernalia.

Hank is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; brothers and sisters, Gertrude Pruisman, Ruth Steinblock, Harm "Bud" Meyers, Geraldine "Jerry" Steinblock, Ida Mae "Ike" Boyd, Merle Meyers, Shirley Kvale, Thelma Pals and Ardis Quant; two cousins, who were raised in the same home as Hank, Henry and Betty Gerdis; and at least 107 nieces and nephews and their children. Local relatives include a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Harry Winchester and their children, Cathy (Chris) Dresen, Denise (Pat) Gagermeier, Chris (Brian) Shepardson and Marty (Mary) Winchester; In addition to his parents, Hank was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Helen Meyer, Ruth Steinblock, Amy Just, Lawrence "Coke" Meyers and Allen Meyers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 515 N. Main St., Holmen. The Revs. Robert Schaller and Delbert Malin will concelebrate the Mass. Burial with full military honors will be at Greenmound Cemetery in rural Holmen. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until services. Dickinson Family Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
